The concrete foundation on Schweriner Strasse has been hardening since mid-May 2023. After excavating the ground, dredging, reinforcement, formwork, electrostatic grounding and laying rainwater and cable ducts for the electrical system, the concrete could finally be poured. All this is kindly organized and financed by the team from Jebens Industriebau.
In the next few days, the steelworker is also starting to convert the factory drawings into Corten steel. If everything goes smoothly, the column can be delivered and set up in just a few weeks. Hopefully at the end of the 21st week we can give an exact date for the straightening.
In any case, there are still a lot of construction sites around an inauguration date, such as: the power connection. Unfortunately, the column cannot be connected to the municipal lighting system as planned and we had to apply for a house connection. The associated power box again requires a special permit. So there will soon be an on-site appointment with the caretaker, etc.
The one-time connection and the monthly operating costs are now unexpected. Since these amounts have not been included in the calculation, we hope for a permanent sponsor. However, the electricity costs should be minimal because the column only consumes 110 watts of electricity when in operation.
Furthermore, it remains to be clarified how and where the information board and the sponsor board can/should be accommodated, this is still being discussed …
Television companies are curious too
The NDR has already asked and would like to accompany the list and bring a report about it, as does Sat1 Regional. It is and remains a lot of public relations work and the pillar team is now organizing help and advice.

We look forward to continued regular support for the development of the column. An appeal by Anita von Hertel raised € 745. The charity dinner, organized by the Rahlstedter network by Conny Zander Olofsson, supported with € 750 and some friends and acquaintances gave additional money.
